As part of a major $10 million renovation, extensive upgrades were completed throughout Toronto's iconic Chelsea Hotel to modernize key guest and public spaces while maintaining uninterrupted operations. The multi-year modernization program reimagined the main lobby, guest rooms, event spaces, dining venues, and public amenities to create a contemporary hospitality experience. Tarpon's work combined extensive interior demolition, infrastructure upgrades, custom millwork, and integrated guest technologies to help bring the hotel's renewed vision to life.

Main Lobby (Food and Beverage, Guest Amenities)

The hotel's central arrival and gathering space, combining guest services, dining, and social spaces into a welcoming first impression for visitors. Tarpon’s work extended to the main lobby, additional food and beverage spaces, and several guest amenities—all while the hotel remained fully operational.

Complete renovation of the main floor lobby and reception, including new wall finishes, painted ceilings, decorative lighting, & restored granite flooring.
Reconstructed reception desks with custom millwork, staff cabinetry, and an integrated self-check-in system featuring flush-mounted digital kiosk.
Performed full demolition of the existing food and beverage facilities, removing bars, kitchen areas, seating, flooring, and existing mechanical systems.
Installed new plumbing, water services, electrical distribution, data infrastructure, & commercial cooking equipment to support modern food service operations.
Reconfigured the open floor plan into dedicated buffet, dining, and bar spaces to improve functionality and guest experience.
Constructed custom bars, countertops, back bar millwork, concealed liquor storage, architectural wall panels, tile cladding, metal accents, & illuminated feature canopies.
Installed beverage distribution systems, including beer and soft drink lines, coffee service infrastructure, & customer service kiosks.
Supplied and installed new luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring, custom partitions, specialty door systems, furniture, artwork, LED lighting, & programmable dimming controls throughout the renovated space.

The Elm Tavern (Restaurant)

Replacing the former Market Garden restaurant, The Elm Tavern was one of several spaces completed while the hotel remained fully operational.

Performed a full demolition of the former food and beverage facilities, including bars, kitchen areas, seating, flooring, and existing mechanical systems.
Installed new plumbing and water services, electrical and data infrastructure, commercial cooking equipment, and beverage distribution systems to support modern food-service operations.
Constructed custom bars, countertops, back-bar millwork, concealed liquor storage, architectural wall panels, tile cladding, metal accents, and illuminated feature canopies.
Reconfigured the space into dedicated buffet, dining, and bar areas, complete with custom bars and millwork, architectural finishes, feature canopies, and the signature green wall.

The HIVE (Family Recreation)

Designed with families in mind, the result is an all-ages, cohesive, elevated space that enhances the guest experience while delivering the durability and functionality required for a high-traffic hospitality environment.

Completed interior finish upgrades to enhance functionality, durability, and the overall guest experience.
Coordinated construction within an active hotel environment while maintaining uninterrupted guest operations.

The Heights (Adults-Only Wellness)

Delivered a cohesive wellness environment designed for long-term durability, elevated aesthetics, and an enhanced guest experience.

Refreshed the main entrance with new custom millwork, updated signage, upgraded finishes, and improved functionality.
Completed a full rebuild of the weight room and fitness centre, including new flooring, feature slat walls, modern lighting, and upgraded electrical systems.
Renovated the Skyline Pool and whirlpool areas with ceiling refinishing, non-slip flooring, enhanced lighting, feature walls, and a new architectural concrete façade wall.

South Tower Specialty Suites & Guest Rooms (27th Floor)

Premium accommodations designed to provide elevated comfort, contemporary finishes, and an enhanced guest stay experience. The specialty suite program encompassed Premier and Honeymoon suites and their associated guestrooms, with upgrades tailored to the existing conditions and layouts of each space.

Completed comprehensive interior upgrades, including replacement flooring and wallcoverings, refinished trim and mouldings, new ceiling finishes, and updated decorative finishes throughout the suites & guestrooms.
Coordinated replacement of blackout and sheer draperies, select furniture and soft seating, area rugs, bedding, decorative artwork, mirrors, & other guest-room finishes.
Upgraded lighting and guest technology with new decorative fixtures, table and floor lamps, wall-mounted televisions, & integrated audio systems.
Performed custom carpentry and millwork upgrades, including bar and counter modifications, new shelving, replacement closet doors and hardware, specialty doors, & fireplace feature work.
Renovated bathrooms with new toilets, wallcoverings, lighting, mirrors, accessories, shower components, and select vanity & bathtub replacements while retaining and refreshing existing finishes where appropriate.
Upgraded kitchenette areas with new millwork, flooring, plumbing fixtures, appliances, wallcoverings, and lighting to provide refreshed and functional in-suite amenities.
Managed demolition, installation, and coordination of new finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and equipment across the specialty suites as part of the broader South Tower guest accommodation renewal.
